A year left: Obama running against history

By ayana

obama_2000_s640x426.jpg

With today marking the one-year countdown to Election Day 2012 and his approval rating stuck in the low 40s, President Obama will have to defy American electoral history if he is to win re-election.

At 43 percent approval in a Gallup poll conducted Oct. 28-30, Mr. Obama recently referred to himself as an “underdog” — with good reason. Of all the presidents since World War II whose job-approval scores were lower than 50 percent one year before Election Day, only one went on to win a second term.

That was President Nixon, whose job approval stood at 49 percent in November 1971. He rebounded to defeat Democrat George McGovern in a landslide in 1972.

Mr. Obama does have some advantages. He is still a formidable fundraiser, having amassed more than $150 million for his campaign and the Democratic National Committee this year.

Also, his re-election operation is more robust than any of the GOP camps, which are waging a long and costly primary battle. Mr. Obama’s campaign is able to build on a 50-state network from 2008, an email list of more than 9 million potential supporters and an experienced staff with unequaled savvy in digital marketing and social networking.

In early polling of head-to-head matchups with potential GOP candidates, Mr. Obama comes out on top in nearly every instance. One poll in the battleground state of Florida this week showed former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney tied with Mr. Obama.

CAN HE DO IT AGAIN?

*BLANK STARE* WHY DO WE CARE? LMAO

CNN published an interesting article today blaming Kim Kardashian’s narcissism as the primary cause of the demise of her 72-day marriage to NBA player Kris Humphries.

According to psychotherapist and divorce coach Micki McWade, who is quoted in the CNN article, “Narcissists lack self-esteem and live in an internal world, one that they can attract another person to and form a relationship around because they can read other people and manipulate them.”

Narcissists want weddings, not marriage, according to McWade. Second only to addiction, narcissism is the ultimate relationship killer and a significant factor in many of the divorce cases she has witnessed

McWade compared the narcissist to a parasite, who drains her partner emotionally and financially.

Parents have an unfortunate tendency to create narcissists, by forcing their children to become what their parents want in order to receive love, according to McWade, who added that people should never become engaged before a year of dating.

People are attracted to physical characteristics, which is confused for love. We incorrectly believe that love is a feeling or an emotion. It is not. Love is an action or behavior.

Female narcissists are successful at attracting gullible partners like Kris Humphries, because they have little interest in a man’s attractiveness. The narcissist concerns herself more with his social status and his money. She can dump him quickly because she has zero empathy or feelings for him.

In Kim Kardashian’s case, the wedding was 100% about her. From the outrageous price of the wedding ring ($2 million) to the over-the-top wedding expenses — every detail was designed to bring attention to Kim and her reality show.

Even the filing of the divorce documents was planned to coincide with the launch of her handbag line in Australia yesterday.

In a letter to her fans published on her blog last night, Kim unashamedly portrayed herself as the courageous victim:

“I’m being honest here and I hope you respect my courage because this isn’t easy to go through,” she wrote.

Kim, who never mentioned Kris’s name even once in the 400-word letter, referred to herself (“I”, “I’m,” “me”) over 45 times. tumblr_lpwk5mWa1G1qhpr3j.gif

Narcissists such as Kim Kardashian are human predators. They are wolves in sheep’s clothing who prey on the human desire for love. The man who is trapped in a relationship with a narcissist does all the giving — while the narcissist does all the taking.

After giving her the world, a frustrated man asks his narcissistic wife, “What have you done for me lately?” To which she replies, “You should be happy I’m with you.”

HipHop News: Diddy Saves Boys & Girls Club Of Harlem

By ayana

diddy boys and girls.jpg

Diddy saves the day. After learning that the Boys & Girls Club of Harlem was on the verge of shutting down due to lack of funding, Puff brought more than enough of his Benjamins to help keep the four locations alive. Board Member and Resource Development Chairman, Willie C. Bentley, Jr. says:

“Mr. Combs’ contribution comes at a time when we were faced with the possibility of eliminating existing programs and/or club sites. 100% of Mr. Combs’ contribution will go directly to the young people, and provide educational, recreational and social enrichment programs allowing us to move forward as a club, uninterrupted.”

IN HIS WORDS :  Puff tells the NY Daily News:

Being from Harlem, I heard they needed help, and I wanted to help. This is something that I am proud to do.”There is usually a bigger issue to what kids are going through. Most kids want a way out. There are still more great things to come.

As one of Esquire’s sexiest woman alive, Rihanna bares all for the magazine’s latest cover. Issue hits newsstands on October 16, but here’s an excerpt of her discussing Breezy’s success.

IN HER WORDS

It was too much anger. I’m really excited to see the breakthrough he’s had in his career. It’s incredible to see how he pulled out the way he did. Even when the world seemed like it was against him, you know? I really like the music he’s putting out. I’m a fan of his stuff. I’ve always been a fan. I would never wish anything horrible for him. Never. I never have.
